Your Signature, Bottled Twice

Layering is the art of combining two (or occasionally three) fragrances to create a scent that's unmistakably yours. It's how people end up with a fragrance nobody else in the room is wearing — and it's easier than it sounds.

The Golden Rules

  1. Start with your base. Choose the fragrance you want to last — usually an eau de parfum. Everything else accents it.
  2. One accent, maximum. Two loud scents don't layer; they fight. Pick one softer companion.
  3. Stay in the family first. Florals + florals, woods + woods. Then experiment across families once you're comfortable.
  4. Test for a full day before wearing it out. Layered scents evolve over hours — give them time.
  5. Less is more. Two sprays of each is plenty. You can't un-spray.

Three Foolproof Combinations

  • Fresh + Woody: a citrus cologne as the base, finished with a warm sandalwood or oud eau de parfum. Ideal for day-to-evening wear.
  • Floral + Vanilla or Amber: a soft floral heart with a gourmand or amber base — sweet, warm and endlessly flattering.
  • Clean + Citrus: a musk or clean-skin scent under a bright citrus spray. Effortless, office-friendly, and never overwhelming.

What to Avoid

  • Two intense eau de parfums together — you'll overwhelm everyone in the room
  • Spraying directly onto fabric — layer on skin, not clothing, so each scent can develop
  • Judging in the first ten minutes — layered scents need time to settle
  • More than three products — a perfume, a mist, and maybe a scented lotion is the ceiling

Layer With Body Care for Depth

An easy upgrade: start with a matching body mist or scented lotion, then finish with your eau de parfum. The lotion gives the fragrance something to cling to, and the mist keeps the scent close all day. Victoria's Secret body mists and bath & body favorites pair beautifully with designer perfumes.

Start With One, Then Play

If you're new to layering, start with two scents from our fragrance collection — one you already love and one you're curious about. Wear them side by side for a week and your signature will find you. For gifts, fragrance gift sets are perfect for building a layering wardrobe without committing to full bottles.
